The Trebanog Project is the re-imagining of a closed space. Rhiwgarn Infants school’s last pupils left 4 years ago and has since been a hub for anti social behaviour and vandalism and as a base for the local Sure Start initiative which has since moved creating another derelict space in the landscape. Through a partnership bid the projects main stake holder partners Trevalis, Artworks (Valleys Kids) and Artes Mundi the lead artist Owen Griffiths alongside AM Project developer Eleanor Davis and Becca Thomas have worked to reopen its doors holding regular community events, workshops and meetings about its future and the role that these organisations and its potential as an artwork might play.
The School will act as a hub for ongoing activities, various on and off site engagement projects; working as a team, we will transform the school into a shared creative space.
The Dingle is a green space on the edge of the community, overlooking Porth and forms part of RCT Homes Environment Improvement plan. The artists will work in collaboration with the community, RCT Homes’ planners and designers to envisage a design for the area that reflects the needs of the community.
